The starting anchor uses ICCT's FY2019-20 average real-world petrol consumption for Indian hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs. This car's available mileage reference contributes a smaller part, and road mix, traffic, trip length, tyres and service then place the estimate within a range.

The selected year widens the range for older cars, because their condition histories vary more. It does not automatically lower the centre figure. A measured 3-fill result or the mileage you enter replaces the model.
