Call for help
Dial 112. On a National Highway, call 1033 as well for an ambulance, crane and patrol support.
Share the exact location
Send a Google Maps pin. State the road or highway number, direction of travel and nearest kilometre marker or landmark.
Protect people first
Switch on hazard lights and move behind a barrier when it is safe. Keep injured people still unless fire, traffic or another immediate danger requires movement.
Record the essentials
When it is safe, photograph vehicle positions, damage, number plates and the road. Exchange licence, registration and insurance details.
