E20 mileage
E20 and your mileage: the real numbers.
The official figures are specific and published. The national roadmap puts the effect at roughly 1–2% for cars calibrated for E20 and 6–7% for older cars designed before ethanol blends, and FuelSaathi plans your fuel budget with 5–7% headroom built around the top of that official range — so real-world costs come in at or under plan. Then you measure your own car and replace the assumption with your number.
The official figures
Three numbers cover the whole question.
Each figure below is the published one, linked to the document that states it. None of them is a guess, and none of them is a reason to worry — the largest is the planning margin FuelSaathi adds on your behalf.
~1–2% / 6–7%The NITI Aayog roadmap figures
The national expert-committee roadmap puts the mileage effect at roughly 1–2% for cars calibrated for E20 and 6–7% for older cars designed before ethanol blends — specific, bounded numbers for both generations of the fleet.

ARAI's validation note — covering field and laboratory programmes of 40,000 to 60,000 km — places the fuel-efficiency effect of E20 within what it describes as a narrow 2–6% range, with real-world variation driven by driving style, roads and vehicle condition.

FuelSaathi budgets your fuel costs with deliberate 5–7% headroom, built around the top of the official NITI Aayog range — so the plan absorbs traffic, weather and load before they can surprise you.

Your car has one real number. Go and get it.
Percentages describe fleets; your car produces a single, measurable figure. Three complete fill-to-fill readings across broadly similar journeys give you a real baseline — and every tool below runs privately in your browser.
