What this tool can and cannot do

A phone camera can document a receipt, pump, outlet sign or warning light. It cannot scientifically determine petrol or diesel quality. Quality findings require recognised sampling and testing procedures.

What to do next

Keep the original receipt and, if safe, photograph the pump, outlet sign and vehicle warning lights.
Contact the oil company named on the receipt through its official customer-care channel and ask for a complaint reference.
Ask the vehicle service centre to inspect the vehicle. Timing alone cannot identify the fuel as the cause; retain any diagnostic report.
Share both reference numbers and records if the matter is escalated.
